SEAS artists return for our third show at the Pie Factory in three years.
Fifteen artists will be showing assemblage, painting, printmaking, photography, photomontage, mosaics, sculpture and textiles.
Come and meet me among the vibrant art quarters of Margate and nip across the road to the Turner Contemporary, where the four shortlisted artists for the 2019 Turner Prize will be on show.
My work will include images from Snowdon to the Kent coast, inspired by 17th Dutch landscape and seascape artists whom I found inspirational while studying the history of art in my early days at Medway College of Art
The monochrome images harp back to my love of magazines in the 60's and 70's such as The Sunday Times, The Observer magazine and Vogue. Shooting with manual focus lenses slows down my thought process and forces me to think about the composition and contrast of the image. Subdued colours, heavy clouds, mist and rain help to create the effect that I'm looking for in both monochrome and colour work.
The images of fish come from my love of sea angling and a desire to create a graphical image.
